Lesley Robinson - Heron and Hush community, RED January, Trent 100 and Babybels

I am thrilled to welcome Lesley Robinson of Heron and Hush to The Joy of SUP Podcast.I  discovered Lesley on Instagram when I saw her fundraising for RED January, a campaign founded by Hannah Beecham encouraging us to move every day to Beat The Blues in January and fundraise for mental health charities. Lesley tells us more:My love of the outdoors grew with me from a young age when we would go for hikes for my little legs, through woodland, farmland, fields, or by the lakes and rivers. If we weren’t walking, we were cycling miles along dirt tracks in the Hertfordshire villages or playing outside. I can't tell you how much I dislike being inside! ‘Outside is the best side’ and where I feel that sparkle, that warm feeling.18 years ago, I moved to Bedford, a short walk away from the river and the country park and knew instantly that being closer to nature felt better, years went by where I enjoyed these blue and green spaces by myself and with friends and family.Returning from holiday several years ago, I had a SUP taster session on my local river, the River Great Ouse and I was hooked! After spending as much time as I could on the water and attending different SUP courses and clinics, I decided to go for my SUP Instructor Qualification with ASI and now… Heron and Hush is heading into it’s third year! There’s nothing I love more than seeing those smiles at the end of a session and the incredible effect being on the water has on everyone, from the soothing and calming moments where we connect with nature to the fun and frolics we have. Heron and Hush has grown so much, through some tough times! I think we provide something for everyone, new experiences, edging out of your comfort zone with that support and knowledge on hand.. I want to make SUP accessible for everyone in a way that they enjoy and have the most fun! In this episode we talk about:Founding Heron and HushBecoming an ASI instructorFundraising for RED January with Sport in MIND with our REDy Set Paddle for RED January eventsFACES Bedford - a charity supporting local familiesHolding Planet Patrol Clean-upsRunning specialist race clinics with Starboard TeamRacer Ben PyeWeekly SUPper Club and lessons for beginners and improversTaking part in the Trent 100Working with Anu and the team at Paddleboarding LondonSUP Surf skills weekends with Daddyboards Scott McLashan SUP Staycations in Wales, sponsored by Panda Boardsport Creating communities and friendship through SUP for everyoneFind Lesley here:www.heronandhush.com Instagram and Facebook  @heronandhush Thank you so much to Bluefin SUP for sponsoring Season 3 of the podcast.Any questions, please email [email protected]: @thejoyofsuppodcast_Follow #thejoyofsuppodcast on Twitter and InstagramFacebook The Joy of SUP PodcastWebsite www.jomoseley.comPlease do also rate and review us on Apple as it will help more people find us!Wishing you sunshine, thank you for listening, Jo x Please always put safety first +  get the right advice for your training + body.

Om Podcasten

Sharing the joy of stand up paddleboarding. Join us for inspiring conversations with dream guests talking about all the health, happiness, friendship, adventure and possibility that SUP brings to our lives. From world endurance record holders to SUP Yoga, SUP with a Pup to SUP Surf, we will hear uplifting stories and fantastic information to help you on your paddleboarding journey. SUP has given our host, Jo Moseley, so much joy, confidence, courage and community since her first lesson in the Lake District in 2016 recovering from a knee injury. She became the first woman to paddle coast to coast across northern England, fundraising and picking up litter, has been in magazines, on the tv, radio and a guest on many podcasts. The film about her journey called Brave Enough - A Journey Home to Joy was launched to critical and audience acclaim in 2021. She has made two short award winning films about paddleboarding and written many articles. Having experienced such happiness and wellbeing, her goal in launching the podcast is to shine a light on the brilliant stories of others in the paddleboarding community and to share valuable ideas with her audience. It is both a thank you letter to everyone who has inspired, welcomed and encouraged her and a love letter to the wonderful sport. At the heart of the podcast is the idea 'We rise by lifting others' and that's what she is here to do - to welcome, encourage and celebrate you in the paddleboarding community. Whether you are dipping your paddle in the water for the first time, want to explore new places or disciplines, or have years of paddleboarding memories, you are in the right place and this is the podcast for you.
