65: IE Stories - Unlearning assumptions about (RD) appearances
The Lane 9 Podcast - A podcast by Alexis Fairbanks and Heather Caplan RDN - Thursdays
Sarah Anzlovar joins me on the show to talk about her journey to being a second-career dietitian, and adopting Intuitive Eating in her career. When she decided to study nutrition, she believed dietitians might have to look at certain way in order to be taken seriously. She had to unlearn this, and embrace intuitive eating, to become the dietitian she is today. We talk about her various career moves and how she's landed where she is today, with a new private practice and a job she enjoys. We talk about what makes us feel like we aren't "good" at counseling, when really, it's that we don't believe in spreading diet culture. And we talk about undoing assumptions about appearance, and exercise identity. Questions or requests for the show? Reach out: RDRealTalk @ Gmail.com Have you left a review on iTunes yet?
