63: IE Stories - It starts with changing some MNT slides

The Lane 9 Podcast - A podcast by Alexis Fairbanks and Heather Caplan RDN - Thursdays

Lauren Newman is what we in the dietetic world call an "RD2Be". She's completing a Coordinated program at UT Austin, and will be joining us with her RD certification soon.  She is part of a Facebook group for new and aspiring dietitians who are interested in intuitive eating (IE) and Health at Every Size (HAES). I reached out to her after she posted about something big; she gave a presentation on Intuitive Eating and HAES in her Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) class.  Baller move.  In this first IE Stories episode, we get real about the initial assumptions Lauren had about these philosophies. She tried hard to prove them wrong, to stay in the weight-based world of nutrition that she believed to be true, to "fight" the so-called obesity epidemic! Then we talk about the Big Nutrition Goal she has for her career, and the work it will take to get there.  Find more about Lauren on her site, laurennewmanrd2be.com, or via Instagram @gofeedyourself_.  Support the show to help fund RD Real Talk production, and get exclusive access to 1:1 coaching episodes:patreon.com/rdrealtalk Questions?
