The Lane 9 Podcast - A podcast by Alexis Fairbanks and Heather Caplan RDN - Thursdays
Sasha Bard Chamberlain joins us from the DMV (DC-MD-VA)! She’s a Nutrition policy and education specialist, a fellow UMD-College Park internship grad, and a “retired” yoga teacher. (We can’t do it all!) She worked with First Lady Michelle Obama on the Let’s Move! campaign, and is now with the USDA NEPB (we explain). She fills me in on another nutrition education program that does teach Intuitive Eating, and how her career eventually landed her in the nutrition world. Then we talk shop about how parenting can get in the way of kids eating intuitively. We also tap into her expertise—what does the recent news about school nutrition guidelines actually mean? In the news: An article on giving kids nutrition structure and family meals (we have thoughts) What the Trump administration has in store for school nutrition And also: the best eats in Thailand, a small Instagram dilemma, and review of evolving nutrition philosophies.
