152: IE Series, Feeling, Not Fearing, Fullness With Ayana Habtemariam MSW RD

The Lane 9 Podcast - A podcast by Alexis Fairbanks and Heather Caplan RDN - Thursdays

Intuitive Eating Series, Principle 6. Ayana Habtemariam, MSW RD, joins us to talk about the nuances of fullness, and how we feel it, or try to avoid, it. Fullness often isn’t easy to describe, and diet culture messages teach us to fear it, as a sign we have had “too much”. There’s internalized (and normalized) fat phobia in that mindset, which we have to challenge. There’s also a lesson that if we feel full, we’ve eaten beyond our needs, when in reality, we’re meeting them.  So, yah, let’s dive into this fullness thing.  Interested in discussing your thoughts & questions from this episode?
