Siobhán McSweeney always wanted to be an actor but her parents wanted her to be a teacher. Undeterred, she completed a science degree at University College Cork and moved to London to study at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Siobhán’s big break came in 2018 when she was chosen to play Sister Michael in Derry Girls. The show was a huge hit and Siobhán won a BAFTA for her performance in 2023. Now a big star of the small screen, you can catch her presenting The Great Pottery Throwdown on Channel 4 and starring in the Disney+ comedy series Extraordinary. As it’s Easter, Nick pops a bottle of Waitrose Champagne Blanc de Noirs to start and serves Siobhán her favourite snack. Angela prepares a feast: Slow-roast lamb shoulder with beer and carrots, potatoes dauphinoise and purple sprouting broccoli with anchovies, garlic and lemon, all delicious recipes from Julius Roberts. As our trio tuck into their meal, they enjoy a bottle of Viña Lorea Reserva Rioja recommended by the experts at Waitrose. This episode has lots of laughs as Siobhán shares her childhood food memories, her Bafta speech preparation and reveals which Hollywood A-Lister loves watching The Great Pottery Throwdown. Just so you know, our podcast might contain the occasional mild swear word or adult theme.
