Beating loneliness through connection for a better future, with Kindred Founder Anna Anderson

My guest this week is Anna Anderson Founder of Kindred, a co-working space in West London that is passionate about building community with real life human connection, and is inspired by the openness, warmth, and connectivity that is created by gathering around a campfire, in a way that respects and celebrates people and the planet.Anna opened Kindred in December 2018, motivated by a lack of physical spaces that encouraged people to connect with one another. They are an open house that encourages people to gather for co-working, events and exceptional food and drink. She's passionate about building a stronghold for community to tackle loneliness and to celebrate our innate, human need to connect IRL with others. She was motivated to build something with heart, and not just something extractive. She believes that humans do better when they’re able to gather (and not just for work purposes), and we should create spaces in cities for this to be able to happen organically. Whilst restoring  an old dilapidated Georgian building and admitting that most old bricks and mortar businesses especially in hospitality are going to have an impact on the environment, she is working towards making the space more regenerative. They work with small, local wherever possible, family run suppliers across their food and drink offering, sourcing meat and fish from sustainable, regenerative farmers, and their wine from biodynamic, organic producers. They pay at least London living wage if not more across their hospitality team and they're often able to get their food waste down to a minimum by using excess ingredients for staff meals, and their pasta of the day. They pay for green energy tariffs and are exploring ways to generate their own electricity through using solar panels on the roof.  If we can all try and mitigate what we can, as we go, we can build great places for communities to come together, connect and make a difference in each others's lives. You can find out more about Anna’s work on https://www.wearekindred.com/And follow her on Instagram @LondonkindredJoin Lou on LinkedinFollow her @brave_newgirl on Instagram and get her books Brave New Girl- How to be Fearless, FEAR LESS and her Internationally Bestselling book DARE TO SHARE on Amazon or Waterstones or Barnes & Noble.
