Panel: The risk of a wider war in the Middle East
World Today - A podcast by China Plus

Three weeks into the Israel-Hamas conflict, more airstrikes have ravaged swaths of the Gaza Strip. Residents are running out of food, water and other supplies. Israeli ground forces, accompanied by fighter jets and drones, have conducted targeted raids in Gaza and struck dozens of Hamas targets. Meanwhile, the US military launched two airstrikes against Iranian-linked sites in eastern Syria, following a series of attacks against US forces in the region. As an Israeli ground invasion looms, fears grow that the war may escalate into a wider, regional conflict. How likely is a larger war in the Middle East, and what can be done to stop it? Host Zhao Ying is joined by Wang Jin, Associate Professor at Northwest University in Xi'an, China; Joseph Siracusa, Dean of Global Futures at Curtin University; and Tim Anderson, Director of Center for Counter Hegemonic Studies, a Sydney-based think tank.
