Theophoric is an adjective that means bearing the name of a god. Our word of the day is Greek in origin and is used to describe any name from a god of any faith. Here’s an example of theophoric in use: Emma and I chose Thor as a name for our son because we liked the idea of a theophoric name and what name could be better than that of the Norse god of thunder.
