It is, in part, a sequel to the Iliad, the other Homeric epic. In Book Two, Telemachus, son of Ulysses, finally confronts the suitors who have been eating his father’s food and drinking his wine in his absence while they attempt to capture the hand of his mother in marriage. He learns of their intentions and a looming war with them before meeting with the Goddess, Minerva.
