Listen to the full episode on the WikiSleep app by visiting WikiSleep.comBorn in 1883 in Prague, Franz Kafka was a Bohemian novelist and short-story writer, widely regarded as one of the major figures of 20th-century literature. His work fuses elements of realism and the fantastic and typically features isolated protagonists facing bizarre or surrealistic predicaments and incomprehensible socio-bureaucratic powers. He never married, yet had a tortured relationship with sex and was womanizer who was engaged several times. Although the term "Kafka-esque" has entered the English language to describe situations like those found in his writing, he was virtually unknown during his lifetime.
