Weird Darkness: Stories of the Paranormal, Supernatural, Legends, Lore, Mysterious, Macabre, Unsolved - A podcast by Darren Marlar

IN THIS EPISODE: Accounts of haunted lighthouses have existed for hundreds of years. To many they are considered to be isolated and romantic. Some lighthouses are possibly haunted due to tragedies from shipwrecks or other horrors that have spawned all sorts of lighthouse lore. Some who have spent the night at a haunted lighthouse come away with stories to share such as seeing a former lighthouse keeper, or resident of the keeper's home. Could they still be present in some form after their death? Could keepers possibly remain behind to make sure no further tragedies occur at sea? Perhaps the worst fear of a lighthouse keeper, a ship wrecked upon the rocks, is why some lighthouses continue to be haunted by their former captains. Lights turning on, movement of objects, disembodied voices, and see-through specters are often reported within, or around older lighthouses. Are the ghosts of these souls still on duty? Modern-day tragedies at sea still occur and so do the ghosts that eventually haunt our world. If their walls could talk, lighthouses could share many stories from the past. Unfortunately, these objects don’t have the ability to tell their tales – but the phantoms that haunt them just might.YOUTUBE CHAPTERS & TIME STAMPS…00:00:00.000 = Show Open00:03:48.724 = The Haunting Hour, “Case of the Lonesome Corpse” (year unknown)00:32:34.446 = Weird Darkness, “Owl’s Head Lighthouse”00:37:09.463 = The Hermit’s Cave, “The Story Without An End’ (year unknown)01:02:16.472 = Weird Darkness, “The Tybee Lighthouse”01:04:37.900 = Mystery House, “Malice in Wonderland” (September 09, 1945)01:30:17.386 = Weird Darkness, “Currituck Beach Light House” and “The Presque Isle Lighthouse”01:36:55.408 = I Love A Mystery, “Eight Kinds of Murder” (June 30, 1941)02:07:23.285 = Weird Darkness, “Seul Choix Point Lighthouse” and “New London Ledge Lighthouse”02:13:00.950 = Incredible But True, “The Man Who Walked Behind” (year unknown)02:17:26.195 = Weird Darkness, “Point Lookout ”/“Heceta Head ”/“Seguin Island ” Lighthouses02:28:56.649 = Inner Sanctum, “Amazing Death of Mrs Putnam” (January 07, 1941)02:55:46.008 = Weird Darkness, “Fairport Harbor” / “White River” / “Big Bay Point Light” / “Plymouth” / “Battery Point” Lighthouses03:07:51.294 = The Key, “Alexis” (year unknown)03:35:23.602 = Weird Darkness, “Saint Augustine” / “Point Sur” / “St. Simon’s Island” Lighthouses03:45:49.739 = Lights Out, “Uninhabited” (December 22, 1937)SOURCES AND REFERENCES FROM THE EPISODE…“St. Augustine’s Haunted Lighthouse” by Jessica Ferri: http://bit.ly/2ZF0e6N“The Confederate Dead of Point Lookout Lighthouse” by Adam Karlin: http://bit.ly/2zpkmeb“Haunted Lighthouses” posted at AngelsGhosts.com: http://bit.ly/2ZsBJFD“Scariest Lighthouses Built In The United States” by Chelsey Dagner: http://bit.ly/2LcXc03Weird Darkness theme by Alibi Music Library. = = = = =(Over time links seen above may become invalid, disappear, or have different content.
