All About Aerobic Base

Uphill Athlete Podcast - A podcast by Uphill Athlete - Tuesdays

It seems that the endurance training world is rediscovering the importance what we used just call base training but is now often referred to as  Zone 2 training.  Several popular podcasts have featured coaches and sport scientists like Stephen Seiler, Inigo San Milan  and Phil Maffetone discussing this topic, coming at it from different angles.  Uphill Athlete is no newcomer to this concept.  UA co-founder Scott Johnston became a convert in 1984 after a chance meeting with Dr Zone 2 himself, Phil Maffetone.    In this episode co-founder  discusses the concept of Aerobic Base/Zone 2. The emergence of this idea is traced to the empirical framework that coaches and athletes use to test the efficacy of their methods before scientific research is compiled to validate what coaches and athletes know already works.
