Ep 6: Ability to have faith in yourself

Hey Everyone,Welcome to episode six of the Two Coach Confidence podcast. Our aim with this podcast is to bring fun and interesting guests from all areas and walks of life to share their knowledge, stories and experiences of this mystical and subjective topic we refer to as confidence. In today's episode we are joined by former Royal Marine Commando Craig Williamson. Craig has served in multiple hostile environments including Sierra Leone, Iraq and Afghanistan. Craig shares his extraordinary journey from military life to now being owner and Head Coach of CW1 Crossfit in Crewe. Now a business owner, Craig shares his challenges with being visible on social media and even being on the podcast! In this episode we talk about,Craigs journey from leaving school to enrolling in the military, to completing the grueling Royal Marine Commando process and being awarded the prestigious Green Beret. We discuss how confidence appears to grow with experience and time, and how having an ability to have faith in yourself is an essential part of developing confidence. How having to put a condom on a banana in front of 250 people gave him a unique sense of confidence for speaking in front of large audiences from that point on.We explore how Craig’s confidence has developed and changed from his time in the military to becoming a business owner working with civilians.Craig talks about never saying no to an opportunity even if it’s something you don't feel confident in doing or even want to do.We discuss how knock backs, if not managed well can have a significant impact on your confidence moving forward. How fear of failure has played a prominent role in Craigs mindset and confidence. How through SAS selection Craig learned that the most important person in his life is himself. Craig shares his thoughts that confidence is underpinned by success and achievements. We have a fascinating conversation about how certain soldiers had an almost legendary status and how that impacted his perception of those individuals without even meeting them.We also touch on the introduction of elite female soldiers and elite female Crossfit athletes, and how we are evolving as humans.Throughout this episode Craig very humbly talks about his achievements and himself. It’s intriguing to listen to how comfortable Craig is talking about operating in a war zone or protecting high profile clients but how challenging it’s been to become a business owner and working with the general public. This episode really demonstrates how putting yourself in an uncomfortable position creates personal growth and ultimately more confidence.Enjoy! If you enjoy the podcast, please SUBSCRIBE to our show and leave a review.
