How do you complete the Montane Lakeland 100 mile race 3 times? ’Normal’ runner shares her advice!
Trail & ultra running from Wild Ginger Running - A podcast by wildgingerrunning
Thrilled to chat to my friend and fellow Stamford Strider Fiona Martin about her amazing thrice completion of the Montane Lakeland 100 over the last few years! She is going for her 4th this year and wants to complete 5 in order to get a coveted slate trophy! I am working towards the ML100 myself, first doing the ML50 this summer followed by the 100 possibly (if I am successful and get in!) in 2024 or a future date. Here we find out all about teacher Fiona’s training, gear, nutrition, how she deals with sleep deprivation and the inevitable aches and pains that come with running a bloomin' long way. Finishing her 100 miles around 36 hours I am much more keen to hear Fiona’s experiences and advice than all the elite athletes I used to interview - I think this will be way more relevant and useful for us all!
