When you understand the target language and localise it, you open new doors for your company. You can have everything to enter into new markets but if you don’t have a company culture and people who align with that culture, you won’t be successful in the end. We should understand the market itself and the people’s expectations well. There are two questions that we should pay attention to: Where does our service or product fit? And what kind of content is valuable in the market? BEST MOMENTS “Language is key. We have seen multiple cases where we try to use English. I crossed several markets but once you localise the language, it makes a big difference.” “You can do everything right when you expand to a new market. You can have all the contacts and addresses. But if you don’t create a culture that makes people feel part of the bond organization, then you will fail pretty fast.” “There are several aspects. The first one is recruiting which is super important. When we recruit new officers, we want people who are smart, know what to do, have a good network, and so forth. But my experience is that all of the things can be not worth so much if the person or persons do not share your values, your beliefs, understands what you want to do. Recruiting process is not so much about skills. It is more about personality” “Recruiting is one thing. But the other aspect is to try to identify the potential hurdles or threats like what could possibly go wrong and how can we practice in that sense.” “Where does our product fit? Where does it have value in the market? And to find it out, you need to test. You need to try it on… The second thing is what kind of content is valuable in this market. What do people expect? In the beginning, you need to build a brand.” “All brands, I think including ourselves, we need to spend money on getting known. People acknowledge your brand, then you can start making money.” “We are not to judge other nations’ cultures. We need to adapt them.” ABOUT THE HOST Levent Yildizgoren, the author of 'Good Business in any Language', is an award-winning entrepreneur, localisation professional, and a PRINCE2 qualified project manager.
