Every once in a while a TV Show comes along that is just so bizarre that we feel like it deserves a deep dive examination just in and of itself. That was the case with MILF Manor! If you’ve not heard of MILF Manor, it is a reality dating show on TLC, The Learning Channel, which focuses on older women dating younger men, with the twist that all of the younger men are the sons of some other woman on the show and then the drama that ensues when each pair of mothers and sons has to deal with this. It is obviously a trainwreck waiting to happen. The fascinating thing about it is, the trainwreck never really comes. Instead, we end up with a fairly well balanced show that leaves us with more questions than anything else. On this week’s episode, Mav and Monica are joined by Michael Burns, host of Wisecrack Live, to talk about MILF Manor and why such a trashy idea with such poor execution actually ended up being such a fascinating study in both TV and social dynamics.
