e188. The Eternals and the MCU This Year (so far…)

Somehow, we went the entire year of 2020 just… without a Marvel movie. Phase three ended and there was a real life global pandemic and then… there just weren’t any MCU films. For the first time in over a decade, they were just gone! This year, they came back… BIG! in fact, there’s been three already this year and we didn’t really talk about any of them, and there’s a fourth one to come in just a few weeks. So, we decided it was time that we did an episode to check in with the MCU… especially THIS entry. The Eternals has the dubious distinction of being the first MCU film to be rated rotten on rotten tomatoes… and if you listen to the internet, you might think that’s the end of the world. But is it? Is the movie really that bad and if not, why is this happening? And if the movie is good? What does it have to say about comic book movies and our culture around us? On this week’s episode, Hannah, Wayne and Mav are joined by returning guest, TK, host of the There Was an Idea… podcast for an extra special mega-sized episode to talk about the Eternals in specific and how MCU phase IV has been going in general.
