But is this acclaimed yucks-fest actually funny enough to be so revered for its comedy scenes? Perhaps not. This film is really more effective as a whodunnit than as a laugher anyway. One thing that can't be questioned though is that Powell & Loy were a marvelous team in all the Thin Man movies, starting with this saucy original that was released in the early days of the production code.
