Earwig and the Witch

The Ehlke siblings Philip, Dawson, and Samara talk Studio Ghibli and their latest release 'Earwig and the Witch' (2020) from director Goro Miyazaki, son of acclaimed animator Hayao Miyazaki. This is the first CGI animated film from Studio Ghibli, and it features the young Erica Wigg, a.k.a "Earwig," who becomes the foster child of a witch and her demonic companion. The enterprising Earwig is challenged to adapt to her difficult new surroundings, as it is genuinely uncertain whether her foster parents pose a threat to her or are simply old and disgruntled. This surprisingly apt metaphor for uncomfortable family circumstances also holds the key to Earwig's past: A key with the potential to heal her new home.
