Crown Gall with Melodie Putnam of Oregon State University

The Sustainable Flowers Podcast - A podcast by Heather & Clara

Crown gall is one of those plant diseases you hope to never see in your garden, but it turns out it is not uncommon.  This week we were so fortunate to chat with Melodie Putnam, Director of the Oregon State University Plant Clinic about crown gall, and what we can do about it if we find it.     Melodie has published  a bunch of scientific papers on a range of plant diseases, but she has also authored an excellent article on crown gall that makes it understandable for those of us who are not experts- you can find that article here: Crown Gall Still Confounding Scientists and Growers Alike. In our conversation we briefly talk about leafy gall, which is sometimes confused with crown gall.  Melodie has another excellent article about that disease and you can find that one here: The Lowdown on Leafy Gall Our theme music was composed and performed by Heather's son Callum, and the challenging job of audio editing done by the uber-talented Laura Eccleston.
