Changing the Narrative for Black Boys and Men with Daniel Henry

Join us as we discuss Black heritage, Black legacy, and Black narratives with Daniel Henry. Daniel is a 24 y/o brother from Rexdale. His parents immigrated to this country from the Caribbean: Dad (Guyana), Mom (Jamaica). He grew up in the hood but when to school in the burbs for French immersion. Graduated class valedictorian and went on to the University of Waterloo where he studied Geography, Environmental Management, and Aviation and graduated in ‘19. He's also a graduate turn Mentor and Assistant Program Coordinator of the Rite of Passage Experience (ROPE) Program, which is a community program designed to assist male teenagers transitioning from boyhood to manhood. During the pandemic, he realized there was so much about his history and world history that he didn’t know so he started a Black Literature Book Club called “Our Chapter,” which focuses EXCLUSIVELY on intersectional Black art. He loves gardening, cooking, listening to music, and connecting with people with different world views. A wise man once told him, “A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle,” so I feel my purpose is to share my light with the world cuz word to Mahalia Jackson, it don't cost very much.
