The Great Crime w/ James Robins

The Sod's Law Podcast - A podcast by GoldBean Studios

This week I'm talking to award-winning journalist, author, podcaster, historian and critic, James Robins. I first discovered James when I was doing research for Episode 7, back before the Sod’s Law had been launched, as I was about to interview someone about the Armenian Genocide and James had released a podcast called The Great Crime: A Podcast History of the Armenian Genocide. It was really well put together, and made it easy for me to engage with the subject matter. James has released a book; When we Dead Awaken: Australia, New Zealand and The Armenian Genocide, and so I learnt more, not just about the subject but how it relates to a historic point of pride within Australia and New Zealand and how the view on that may be skewed. We talk about all of this in the conversation as well as what James calls Holocaust Kitsch and the over-sentimentality within film portrayals of historic events or trauma.
