Singing from the Soul w/ Judith Gerzi

The Sod's Law Podcast - A podcast by GoldBean Studios

This week I’m taking to Judith Gerzi… Judith is a singer living in Israel, who’s mix of Sephardi and Ashkenazi Jewish backgrounds, as well as growing up with 80s and 90s British music has informed a unique talent and voice! Judith has had one hell of a journey from growing up in London, struggling to have children and to being lauded as the “Jewish Adele”, and it’s one of hard work, faith and a sizeable amount of soul. Judith’s work is labelled as Kol Isha, which literally means “the voice of a woman” meaning that whilst people of all backgrounds, genders and religions are able to enjoy her work, Jewish Law dictates that a woman’s voice would be considered an inappropriate expression for men to engage with. This means her audience is almost exclusively female, but not limited to Jews, as the subject matter of her songs transcends her own religious beliefs.
