Hi and welcome to the skate creative podcast, my names Joel Curtis and I’m a musician and skateboarder. This weeks guest on the podcast is Stephen king. Kingy is a U.K social documentary, portrait photographer and university lecturer. For nearly a decade he was staff photographer at document skateboard magazine. I talk to Kingy about growing up in Liverpool’s skate scene ,starting photography, the importance of mentors in his life , the early days of document, the collaborative nature of all his photography work, dealing with back injury’s and his post skateboarding career in art and education. Kingy was part of a generation that pushed skate photography to new levels of creativity and excellence and his work on document with Percy Dean, Joel O’Connor and Sam Ashley helped bring the uk skateboarding to the next level.
