Ruby Sparks is a 2012 romantic fantasy, written by Zoe Kazan and directed by Valerie Faris and Johnathan Dayton, those two were responsible for Little Miss Sunshine. This is the story of Calvin, played by Paul Dano. Calvin is an anxious, young, novelist, he found MASSIVE success on his first novel, became an instant sensation and how is struggling to find inspiration. Calvin’s therapist encourages Calvin to work on some writing projects and after writing about a girl named Ruby who liked Calvin’s dog Scotty spurs his imagination. She becomes real. Calvin writes this character named Ruby Sparks, and this fictional character he created is brought to life, played by Zoe Kazan. This film also co-stars Chris Messina as Calvin’s brother Harry.
