The Next Reel Film Podcast Look Who's Talking

Why was it such a challenge for Heckerling to find a home for ‘Look Who’s Talking’? At the time, studios were concerned women weren’t funny and didn’t feel a woman looking for a daddy for her baby could carry a romantic comedy. But Heckerling was able to get it sold by pitching it as a talking baby movie. Apparently, that worked. We talk about Heckerling’s 1989 film in this episode. We love Kirstie Alley and John Travolta so much as the leads here. Bruce Willis might be a bit of a creepy voice for a talking baby, but it works. Something about the film feels dated though, and we don’t mean the dated derogatory terms. Still, it’s a romantic comedy that blends in some fun fantastical elements. It allows for a great conversation. Tune in this week to hear these comments about ‘Look Who’s Talking’ and more!
