018: The Year of NO (2018)- Part 1 of 3

As the year wraps up, planning for the coming year is at the top of my mind. While I am nowhere near yet done with 2019 and the impact I want to make before January, I am allocating time for reflection and goal-setting. Something that I began doing at the end of 2017 is choosing one single word of intention that would be the theme of my entire year, as it related to business at least, though sometimes it permeated into my personal life as well, as the two are so often intertwined when you own a small business and even more so when you co-own it with your spouse as I do. This is going to be a 3-part episode and this is part 1. In this episode, I am going to walk through my thought process for that first year that I set a word of intention which was 2018. If the title didn’t give it away-- 2018 was the year of NO.  Saying no to unnecessary tasks, saying no to things that didn’t move me closer to my goals, and saying NO to the desire to please everyone. I am SO excited for this 3-parter and I hope that it sheds even more light on how sustainable businesses come to be and how you can learn from some of my lessons and mistakes and hopefully avoid them for yourself.
