In September 2017, Dalya Shaw drove to the local gym to pick up her 15 year old son, Ben, after his workout. When she pulled up, an ambulance was parked out front and what should have been a standard Tuesday night turned into a parent’s worst nightmare. Ben had been pinned while trying to bench-press 100 kilograms, and died four days later in hospital. Dalya’s one and only child was gone at the tender age of 15.
