Three Things You Need in Your Business

This week’s podcast episode is all about three simple things that will improve your landscaping and design business. They are things that are simple, easy to implement but have big impact. In this episode I will be talking about why they are important and how you can use them effectively to impact sales and profits. What are they? An enquiry log Cashflow Job costing sheets (and budgets) There are so many reasons why these three simple excel spreadsheets are great for your landscaping and garden design business. Let’s start with the enquiry log. If you begin to log EVERY enquiry you can review real data i.e. how your marketing is working, where they are coming from and if there are downturns (comparing year on year). This log will also be able to assess your sales skills and conversion rates. The cashflow forecast is the most important spreadsheet in your business yet many clients still don’t use one! This allows you to see in real time if your business is in the plus or minus, whether you can afford to invest back in the business and you can run IF scenarios to help make important decisions. This really is the backbone to your business and should be regularly updated. Finally the job costing sheets these are there to see if you are pricing jobs correctly and check that you are making profit. You can also then see if what you budgeted is correct when the actual figures come in. Ultimately in any business you need to know your numbers and these three templates let you do just that as well as assist in decision making too.
