In this week’s podcast episode it is part 2 about how bizarre the industry is, following on from the previous episode. This episode is focussing more on sales and marketing techniques and how much they do or don't apply to the landscaping industry. Breaking down quotes - Some clients asking for quotes to be broken down into each material and labour. In other industry's this is never asked - my biggest gripe with clients! Offers - ‘Buy now and get 10% off’ If you take 10% off a £100,000 project that’s a £10,000 discount! This may also attract the wrong clients for you as they are the people who do not want to pay how much you’re worth and will try to negotiate price. Using certain social media platforms - Where are your ideal clients, which platforms are they on? Look at the platforms and the likelihood of your ideal client purchasing from someone on these platforms. Time constraints - Pushing clients to make a decision in a certain period of time. A landscaping project is a huge investment for clients, they could be spending between ten thousand to a hundred thousand pound or more so to get them to make a snap decision or put time limitations on their buying decision is not appropriate.
