RANT: Misinformation About Social Media

In this week’s podcast episode Charlotte is having a rant about misinformation surrounding social media and tips to use for your social media profiles. What does misinformation mean? Everyone has their own opinions with social media, should it be more professional or personable? Those types of things are completely up to you however if you googled how Instagram works or analytics work, this can be false information. Charlotte has seen an article talking about not looking at social media analytics, however she strongly disagrees with this. You don’t need to be looking at analytics every day, but a monthly report is really important to look at engagements. If no one is engaging with certain posts, then you would know what posts to create more often. For example, on the TLC Instagram when a picture of Charlotte or Paula is in a social graphic these posts typically seem to have more engagements. Your time is money. If you’re working on social media, you're not working on something else. Looking at website clicks and seeing how many are becoming an enquiry or asking for more information is a great way to see if your efforts are paying off. Would you rather have a 1000 followers and 10 people enquire, or 10,000 followers and 1 person enquire? Make sure your followers are the right people. Tip: Create a monthly report for your social media, this will help you to see what posts did really well.
