Is There A Right Way To Run Your Landscaping Or Design Business?

In this week’s episode I am talking about is there a right way to run your landscaping or garden design business and the effect of the economy at the moment on you and your business. In my opinion there is not a specific right way or wrong way however, there are ways that make business easier: One priority for a business owner is cashflow forecasting which allows you to create growth within in the business, making informed decisions from a place of fact and figures rather than guesswork Another is getting clear on what clients you’re looking for. Are you going for the 5 grand jobs, 10 grand, 20 grand, 50 grand jobs? Where are these customers spending time online and offline and how can you get in front of them? A good way to look at this is to review where previous clients have come from using your enquiry log to see what marketing has worked and what areas they are in. Another is do not stop utilising the marketing avenues you have set up, with costs rising you may want to cut back on things to reduce overheads, however, do not make the same mistake as others by cutting back on marketing. This is a time to invest in marketing and strategy that works in order to sustain business. A great exercise to do in times like these is to look at your goals and plans as they may change or need to be tweaked. Next to look at is your staff and in times of economic downturns you may be able to find good staff (unfortunately) Finally there is no getting away from it we are sales people! There are going to be periods throughout the year where enquiry's are less or we experience poorer quality enquiries meaning you need to get good (or better) at selling!
