How Systems and Processes Transform Business

In this weeks episode I am talking about systems and processes, I know, I know the really exciting stuff in business. However, talking from experience systems are critical if you are looking to take your business to the next level and you are planning to exit someday. What really brought this to light for me is in the taking over of my Father’s business I soon realised that it had zero systems in place and it is becoming a headache because of this. Simple systems that need to be considered in any business are: - How are your enquiries dealt with and by who? - How are you keeping track of clients? - How do you invoice, who raises and chases the invoices? - Who monitors the bank and cashflow? - Who deals with HR and staff? - Who takes care of the marketing and monitors what is working or not? - How do the staff get paid and who pays them? There are so many more I could talk about but these are just some that have come up in my Father’s business and my own landscaping business. The main aim for my Father’s business is to sell and in order to do that we need to ensure it is systemised and making money which are not happening at the moment.
