Fear, Patience & Relationships

In this week’s podcast episode, I am discussing my takeaways from being at The Landscape Show last week. I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent exhibiting, attending, networking and speaking at The Landscape Show 2022 at the NEC Birmingham. I find that attending these industry shows allows me to build on existing relationships, meet people in person, create connections and find new and exciting opportunities! But many can look upon these events from the ROI or return on investment perspective and make quick judgements. When looking at the ROI for attending and/or exhibiting at an event like this you need to treat it like a customer of your own design and landscaping business. People will not make buying decisions immediately or quickly. It will most likely be months before you see the true ROI attending and exhibiting at an event like this brings. I look at the following when I reflect on an event: Connections - what connections did I make at the event that I need to follow up on Building Relationships - what existing relationships did I build upon at the event Opportunities - what opportunities were created or could be in the pipeline Personal development - did I build upon my personal development journey by stepping outside my comfort zone or facing a fear? The other reason I like to attend these events is to support the industry. Without these events there are no opportunities to meet the people behind the zoom camera, social media profile or website. These events give us a fantastic opportunity to connect, collaborate and build our businesses and ourselves. I spoke at the Landscape show this year, my first public speaking gig EVER. It was scary, it made me anxious for days before and it filled me with fear whenever I thought about it. BUT everything you have ever wanted is on the other side of fear. So, I faced my fear and did it anyway. Nothing bad happened, people actually listened and I felt a huge leap in my own personal development journey had been achieved. So much so that I have said yes to next year! The point is there will be something in your life today that you are scared of facing or doing and I challenge you to face the fear and do it anyway!
