Did Someone Say School Holidays?

In this week’s podcast episode I am talking all about school holidays. This can be a time to many parents of how the hell can I work and look after the children?!? But I am here to show you how we can plan for them and how to make it the least stressful time of the year instead of (one of ) the most stressful times of the year. It comes down to two things: Planning Asking for help First you need to map out the 6 weeks the kids are off for and you need to decide how many days you want to work? Maybe 3 days a week, like me so you have 3 days to keep working towards your goals and work in the business. Then you need to work out who you know that can look after the kids on the other days and ask for help, can grandparents or friends look after the kids once or twice a week? Are there clubs or activities the kids would like to do that frees you up for focussed work effort? The main takeaway from this episode is to make sure you have sufficiently planned the 6 weeks so you don’t feel stressed or overwhelmed. It can be hard to focus on both kids and business so separating them out makes life much easier. Don’t have kids? You can still use this method to create time to work ON the business rather than IN the business. Utilise the 6 weeks to see if you can get 1 day a week off being in the business in order to work on the business. Finally do you have your goals set for the rest of the year? It can sometimes feel that we are over halfway through the year and we haven’t achieved what we set out to do. So look at what you would like to achieve by the 31st December and write these down or even better, create a vision board to look at everyday and know what you’re working towards.
