This podcast is for you if you’re worrying about facing backlash on social media, even though it may be a positive post about your business or the industry, or you are facing unexpected backlash. Charlotte will be giving you some tips off of her own experience, both managing social and consuming it.What might you be worried about? - Starting an argument or debate in the comments if your talking about an industry topic that might be a bit hot- Someone taking something the wrong way even though it’s a positive post and not your intentionWhat can you do to avoid getting forms of backlash and debates in the comments?1. Firstly, avoid the obvious. If there is a topic you don’t necessarily need to talk about for your business and you know is a debate starter, be prepared for the feedback.2. Get someone to check captions and images, maybe just 1 or 2 people you know you’re going to get honest feedback from. If you’re a member you can email us and we will have a look at them for youHowever, sometimes there is no preventing and it is something you need to come to terms with. We did a post out for a company on social and 5 people checked this post (both men and women), and it came back with some feedback of being sexist. Some people were saying that the post was clearly written by a man, when in fact it was Charlotte, and a post with good intentions got taken out of context. How do you deal with negative comments?1. First you need to understand the scope of the backlash. Has someone shared the post into a private group and there has only been 1 or 2 comments? If these are people you know and they consistently do this with posts around the industry, just let it be and ignore.2. If there are a numerous amount of comments in the group or on the post itself, or you have received a few messages from it, it’s time to respond. You need to first understand why it has happened and how people are responding to it. If no one has said why they feel that way about a post then maybe just ask. KEY TAKEAWAYS- If you are worried about your posts, then ask 1-2 people to check over the captions and images- You can deal with the backlash by understanding, apologising and deleting the post - Social was designed to interact and talk to people - you are going to have to face opinions! If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to call us 02381 800108 or email us [email protected] we need to talk about this podcast - https://soundcloud.com/the-landscapers-circle/rant-we-need-to-talk-about-thisFollow Charlotte on Instagram: @charrussellxVirtually Limitless Replay - https://thelandscaperscircle.co.uk/product/virtually-limitless-replay-2020/Want to become a TLC member?
