A Discussion of Mental Health First Aid with Perennial

This week’s podcast episode is a discussion about mental health first aid with my favourite industry charity Perennial. This is always a time of year that can be challenging for those who work outside,  the weather is generally awful (wet and freezing) which impacts on work and we are just coming back after Christmas close down. Both these can impact on mental health and financial health and this is what we are covering in this podcast. Recently I have become a Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) thanks to the pilot scheme Perennial are running with Mental Health First Aid England. Perennial realise how important these roles are and I for one have found it hugely beneficial to not only staff and clients but friends and family. In 2021 Perennial carried out a survey about health and well being and they found that in the horticultural industry 85% of people scored poor or below average for their mental health. Which just shows the importance of being aware of your mental health and knowing where and who to turn to for support. Perennial are an amazing charity for the industry who are there to support all those who work in horticulture.
