John Joseph

Welcome podcast listeners to this week's infamous guest - the impressive powerhouse that is John Joseph!John is a musician, author and Ironman triathlete from New York City, most famous for his work as the lead singer of the Cro-Mags in the 1980s, '90s and 2000s. He was raised in foster care and grew up on the streets of New York City, dodging a federal prison sentence in the late ’70s by enrolling into the Navy.A character with many layers to say the least! Aside from his colourful background, he is author to a number of books including the slightly controversial, “Meat is for Pussies”, a book on vegan nutrition, training and a healthy lifestyle.Whether John is your cup of tea or not, there is no question that he has been through life, he has seen and experienced things most of us could never dream of experiencing. “You know people talk about rock bottom… I was below the fucking rocks! I was with the fucking maggots and the worms… and the fucking dead carcasses. I literally had no less than 5 fucking drug gangs in New York wanting to kill me, I burned every bridge... I had nothing.”From rock bottom to up top - John has an appetite for life that is beyond none. His motto is tough but warranted, “You have to face your demons head on, you can’t run away from it. Whatever it is you are doing, whatever you went through, you gotta face it… show up, work hard and don’t make excuses!”His book “The P.M.A Effect” delves deep into the power of a positive mental attitude. He has spent much time dedicated to the learnings of the Hare Krishna’s and Bhagavad Gita, which has massively shaped who he is today.A fascinating and inspirational character. Enjoy!
