#058 A Fallen Brother - In The Memory of Aston Everett
The Firefighters Podcast - A podcast by Pete Wakefield - Mondays
On the 2nd January, 2021 Firefighter Aston Everett set off for work, leaving his wife and three children at home. He never returned.Whilst on duty that day, an aneurysm in Aston's brain burst. Despite the efforts of the firefighters on duty, the paramedics who responded, the hospital staff and specialists at two hospitals, the damage caused were so severe that he was unable to survive. On this episode of the Podcast, i speak with Astons friend & colleague Ben Turner.Ben and a few other members of our emergency services family have got together and started a Justgiving page. When a firefighter is taken too soon the fire community up and down the country look to chip in to support the families that are left behind. This is what this JustGiving page is about. Ben and the team are looking to collect enough money to support Aston's family, to ensure that his children don't go without, to remove the financial burden and enable the family to grieve their loss. The target we have set (£32000) is the equivalent to a Firefighters annual salaryAston was a brilliant man and a brilliant Firefighter. He was conscientious, principled and dedicated.Having completed 16 years of service, Aston was soon to become eligible to retire due to his age. Retiring this year would have left Aston with a small pension. Aston knew that the reality was that he would need to carry on working once he had left the Fire Service to continue to make ends meet and provide for his family. Even in the last few months, knowing that retirement was approaching Aston was still setting himself professional challenges, never wanting to take his foot off the accelerator. Please donate to help support his family by using the link below.https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/supportingastoneverettsfamily?utm_term=m2K6rqM3QWant to know as soon as new episodes are released & receive a very short email Click the link.https://zcu.io/1ljVPlease support the podcast and its future by clicking HERE and joining our Patreon Crew
