#147 - Haul Out the Holiday Movies! Reviewing the 2022 Holiday Movie Season (with Anna Rendell)

The Couch with Mary Carver - A podcast by Mary Carver

The holidays might be over, but we’re not finished talking about holiday movies. (I mean, really, are we ever?) More than 200 new holiday movies aired on Hallmark, Lifetime, Netflix, and dozens of other channels and streaming services between October and December. Hallmark made more progress in the direction of diversity and also (maybe? kind of?) had some new competition this year. And Netflix didn’t premiere a single new movie starring Vanessa Hudgens. Let’s discuss.   Anna Rendell, my best friend and best friend of the show, is here to break down the season with me, from viewership numbers to our top 10 faves. Or at least 10-ish movies that at least one of us think belongs in the top 10. (Come for the list-making; stay for the debate over a movie Anna and I drastically disagree on!)   Of course, because this is The Couch, where side notes and rabbit trails are always welcome, we also discuss doing our nails, getting our hair cut, and spoilers (hello, HI, there will be spoilers in this episode). If you love holiday movies like we love holiday movies, this is the episode you’ve been waiting for.   Let’s get started!   MENTIONED IN THE SHOW: Hallmark vs. Great American Family: Who’s Winning the Holiday Movie War?
