The Cinematography Podcast Episode 45 Cinematographer Michael Gioulakis Cinematographer Mike Gioulakis is known for shooting horror films like “Glass," “Split,” “Us,” and most recently the dramatic film "Under the Silver Lake." He began with a fine art photography background, taking film jobs wherever he could and getting a foothold with the cult indy film “John Dies at the End.” For the film “It Follows,” Mike and director David Mitchell wanted to create a retro, timeless look for the movie, heavily influenced by photography. He also discusses the meticulous storyboard sessions directors M. Night Shyamalan and Jordan Peele both have for their films. Mike is currently working on another M. Night Shyamalan project for television called “Servant.” Find Mike Gioulakis Instagram: @mikegioulakis Episode Sponsors: Hot Rod Cameras ARRI:Find your next job with Arri Ben & Illya lead off the episode with a discussion about the horror genre not getting enough respect, and how better horror movies are made when there's more political upheaval.
