Meet Duffie Adelson

This week Dr. Greta Pope sits down with Duffie Adelson. She is a true believer in the power of The Arts and is a highly accomplished music school administrator and educator. Duffie spent 33 years at Merit School of Music in Chicago, driving personal transformation through music education. She began as an instructor in 1982 and eventually became the president in 2007. Under her leadership, the student population and instructional offerings grew significantly, and the organization raised nearly $20 million for its own building and endowment. She has also served in various roles, including board chair, at organizations like the National Guild for Community Arts Education, ChiArts High School, and the Chicago Philharmonic. She is a member of the Radio Committee of classical station 98.7 WFMT and the Know Your Chicago Committee of the Graham School, University of Chicago.
