The 1970's were good for Francis Ford Coppola.  In 1972 he made movie history with The Godfather, followed it with the sequel two years later, and closed the decade with his bleak outlook on Vietnam with Apocalypse Now. Only Coppola purists seem to remember The Conversation (1974), a suspense thriller starring Gene Hackman as Harry Caul, a paranoid loner of a surveillance man who hears more than he bargains for when he tapes a conversation between a cheating wife and her lover.  The film would go on to be nominated for three Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Sound.
