If I asked you to name the biggest contributor to Hungarian cinema, you'd probably be at a loss for words.  Miklos Jancso is probably the answer, and his work included a number of films that dealt with themes of wartime and revolution, always with a historical backdrop. Red Psalm is certainly no exception to Jancso's work.  Part musical and part historical commentary, it weaves a spell that I have never seen in a movie before, and Jancso fills it with rich themes and imagery.  Take a listen and, if your interest is piqued, I would recommend getting your hands on the DVD, which is readily available online.
