On 3 November 1933 John Barry Prendergast was born in York. As a kid he fell in love with music and film, being the son of a cinema owner. Already from an early age Barry wanted to become a film composer. When he set his mind to something, and with the help of his wealthy and influential father, there was little Barry could not achieve. Anthony and Don want to have an in-depth look at John Barry’s life and his discography, especially all his non-Bond work. Because Barry’s oeuvre is too vast to handle, this will be a podcast series. This is part 1 in which we try to cover Barry’s early years (1957 - 1962). In other words, everything he did before James Bond came along...
