Everyone knows about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it's time we gave the DC Animated Universe some love. "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm" marked the first time DC put an animated feature into theaters, and it changed the way we'd see Batman on screen for years to come. This 1993 release was loosely based on the graphic novel "Batman: Year One" and trade paperback "Batman: Year Two," so it had Gene's attention. And Big D watched a lot of "The Animated Series" while stoned in college. Needless to say, the Shat Crew was excited to visit a Gotham City envisioned by Bruce Timm and voiced by Mark Hamill, Kevin Conroy, Dana Delany, Stacy Keach, and Abe Vigoda. In this episode, Gene and Big D cover lawn sex, Batman's detective roots, what a weak villain The Phantasm was, a weird romance, bad boy billionaires, the real motivation behind Bruce Wayne dressing as Batman, Alfred's horrid lot in life, the secret intelligence behind the Batcomputer, and flashbacks ... so many flashbacks.
