#124: Bruce Murray (Murray Wealth Group) - 47 Years on Bay Street & a Few Lessons Learned

Greetings & welcome back to the rose bros podcast.This episode we are joined by Bruce Murray - CEO & CIO of The Murray Wealth Group.Prior to launching MWG in 2015, Bruce spent 25 years at McLean Budden as an Executive Vice President and Managing Director. He was one of the key Portfolio Managers of the Canadian Equity Growth Fund, one of the largest equity portfolios in Canada at the time, the American Equity Fund, the International Equity Fund and the Global Equity Growth Fund. As a Portfolio Manager on the American Equity, he enjoyed one of the best track records in the industry, growing the portfolio to over $5 billion. In total, Bruce helped to grow McLean Budden’s equity portfolios to around $30 billion in assets under management from 1990 until its sale to MFS Investment Management in 2011. Bruce also ran portfolios for high net worth individuals, in which MWG will specialize.Prior to McLean Budden, Bruce was Vice President and Equity Analyst at Nesbitt Thomson from 1985 to 1990 where he achieved top rank as a Special Situations Analyst in the Brendan Wood International Survey of institutional investors.Bruce started his investment career in 1976 at Crown life Insurance Company in Toronto as an International Economist and Financial Services Analyst and was Manager Canadian Equities when he left in 1985 to join Nesbitt Thomson.Among other things, we sat down and discussed 40 years on Bay Street, and a few of the lessons learned along the way.
