Being a parent is one of the many things in life that doesn’t come with an instruction manual. So naturally anyone who decides to become a parent is bound to make mistakes with the kids at some point. I don't have kids, but I have to imagine that as a parent, you're making mistakes all the time. — I mean, as a human, we're making mistakes all the time so I'm sure there's no difference. One of the most detrimental mistakes that I've seen countless times and also experienced myself is what some people might call over-functioning for one’s children.Over-functioning is basically doing things for your children that they can do for themselves. Some people say they do it out of love, others do it out of fear, but at the end of the day, constantly doing things for people that they can do for themselves isn't always a simple act of kindness. Sometimes you can train those people to be so dependent on you that they can't do anything for themselves. And that's not good for anyone. So in today's episode, we're going to listen to a short clip from a conversation about this topic and I'll be here to explain all the nouns, verbs, and adjectives and then I’ll leave you with something to think about.-If you love this podcast and want to show some support, subscribe on Patreon! 👉 https://patreon.com/realenglishradioDownload my e-book Mastering English with Podcasts 👉 https://rb.gy/kgh1oContact me any time 👉 https://www.tonykaizen.com/ Hosted on Acast.
