Daily Puck Drop: John Schneider miserable offseason. Cost of John Mateer. Can WSU afford him? Guests: Danny Kelly, The Ringer. John Canzano, JohnCanzano.com

PuckSports - A podcast by Jason Puckett

On today’s Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett is joined by Danny Kelly, The Ringer and John Canzano, JohnCanzano.com. Puck opened up the show asking the question, was this past season the worst offseason under John Schneider? With the release of Tyrel Dodson, aren’t the Seahawks just signaling that they are truly rebuilding?Danny Kelly, The Ringer joins Jason “Puck” Puckett for his weekly visit talking Seahawks, NFL and fantasy football.  Danny ponders the question that Puck asked about John Schneider’s offseason.  Was this the worst one under his tenure?  If the Seahawks are headed to a rebuild in the offseason,  should they commit dollars to D.K. Metcalf and Geno Smith?  If they do move on from Geno, what are there options in the draft. Danny details the upcoming draft class for quarterbacks.  Puck asks Danny, if the Seahawks lose their next two games to the 49ers and Cardinals, would they be best served to lose their remaining games to get better draft position?  Danny makes a compelling argument against that strategy. It’s a Waiver Wire Tuesday, and Danny shares with Puck the best pickups in fantasy football.  They wrap up their segment with their weekly feature, “Barge of the Week.”  They put a player, coach, team or front office NFL personnel on a barge and send them out to the Pacific Ocean.  Danny put Jerry Jones on the barge and Puck went with John Schneider. John Canzano, JohnCanzano.comjoins Jason “Puck” Puckett for his weekly look into college football. They jump right into the discussion surrounding WSU quarterback John Mateer. What would he fetch money wise in the transfer portal?  John estimates that the going rate for a top QB is over a million dollars.  Can the Cougs afford to keep Mateer around?  Does he get a sense that Mateer wants to look elsewhere or is he happy in Pullman?   Should Jedd Fisch move on from Will Rogers and start Demond Williams the rest of the season.  The Huskies are not going to a major bowl game so why keep playing Rogers?  John and Puck both agree that the NIL has something to do with the decision surrounding Rogers. What are the expectations for the Cougars and the college football rankings tonight and what type of chaos do they need in front of them to sneak in to the CFP.  John was on the scene in Utah covering the “Holy War” between Utah and BYU. He reacts to the scene where the Utah AD claims that the game was stolen from them. Utah does not have an exit fee and can leave the Big 12 any time they want, would they jump and come back to the Pac-12?  John dishes on those chances. Lastly, John and Puck talk about the passing of former Blazers broadcaster Brian Wheeler. A gentle and troubled sole. Finally, Puck wraps up the show with “Hey, What the Puck?!” Puck discusses the situation in Chicago with Caleb Williams. It’s why it’s so important to have the right coaching staff in place when you select a quarterback of the future in the first round.
